Transfer Types
How it Works
The transfer flow follows these steps:
- Query source balance — Call Query Account Balance APIto confirm sufficient funds in the source account.
- Verify routing feasibility, preview costs, and obtain a quote ID to lock in the exchange rate (if needed) — Call Consult a Payout APIto pre-validate a payout and retrieve a fee and exchange rate estimate before initiating the actual transfer.
- Initiate transfer — Call Create a Payout APIwith source, target, amount, and optional FX quote.
- Monitor status — Subscribe to Payoutswebhooks for async status updates.
Settlement Times by Currency
Settlement speed depends on whether the currency supports Real-Time Payments (RTP):
Note: Amount thresholds apply. Some corridors have different settlement times for amounts exceeding USD 200,000 equivalent. See the Supported regions and currencies page for details.

Integration Notes
- Always check the source balance first using Query Account Balance APIbefore initiating a transfer.
- Pre-validate a transfer and retrieve a fee and exchange rate estimate before initiating the actual transfer via Consult a Payout API. This step is to verify routing feasibility, preview costs, and obtain a quote ID to lock the exchange rate for a subsequent Create a Payout call.
- L2L transfers require parent account authorisation. The parent account initiates all cross-entity transfers.
- Settlement speed varies by currency and channel. Refer to the RTP currency table for expected delivery times.
