Mass Payout

Mass Payout is designed for enterprises that need to process high volumes of recipient payments on a regular schedule.
With Mass Payout, you can upload a batch file containing up to 200 individual payouts and execute them together. Each batch is processed as a single unit, with status tracking available at both the batch level and the individual payment level. This makes Mass Payout ideal for monthly payroll, marketplace seller settlements, and periodic commission distributions.
💡 This page focuses on batch payouts. For single payouts to bank accounts and WorldFirst accounts, see Single Payout capability.

Key Benefits

Batch execution

Upload a single batch file containing up to 200 individual payouts and execute them together. The entire batch is processed as a single unit, reducing operational overhead and ensuring consistent execution timing for all recipients.

Single currency and country per batch

Each batch file must contain payouts in one currency to one destination country. This simplifies regulatory reporting, reduces FX risk within the batch, and ensures consistent routing and fee structures for all payments in the batch.

API and file upload

Submit batch instructions through two channels:
  • API integration — Submit batch instructions programmatically through the Application Programming Interface (API) for automated, system-driven workflows.
  • Portal file upload — Upload a batch file through the WorldFirst Portal in Comma-Separated Values (CSV) or Excel format for manual or ad-hoc batch execution.

Batch and payment-level status tracking

Track the status of every batch and every individual payment within it. Status updates include: pending, processing, completed, partially completed, and failed. You can query batch summaries to see how many payments succeeded and how many failed, and drill down into individual payments to retrieve detailed failure reasons.

Automatic reconciliation

Once a batch is completed, retrieve transaction statements via API or Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) for accounting reconciliation. Each individual payment carries a unique tracking reference that appears in both sender and recipient statements.

How it works

At a high level, a Mass Payout transaction follows four steps:
  1. Prepare the batch file — Create a batch file containing up to 200 individual payouts. Each row must include the recipient's beneficiary details, payout amount, and reference information. All payouts in the file must be in the same currency and to the same destination country.
  2. Submit the batch — Upload the batch file through the API or portal. The system validates the file format, beneficiary data, and payout limits before accepting the batch.
  3. Track execution — Monitor the batch status through the API or portal. The batch moves through pending, processing, and completed states. You can query individual payment status within the batch at any time.
  4. Reconcile — Once the batch is completed, retrieve transaction statements via API or SFTP. Review any failed payments, correct the data, and resubmit if needed.

Use cases

Monthly payroll

A technology company with 150 employees across Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia needs to pay salaries on the first of every month. Using Mass Payout, the company prepares a single batch file for each country and currency, uploads it through the API, and executes all payments at once. The entire payroll is processed in minutes, with automatic reconciliation through the statement API.

Bulk seller settlements

An e-commerce marketplace settles earnings to 500 sellers every Friday. Sellers are based in Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand. The marketplace uses Mass Payout to create three batch files—one per country—and executes them sequentially. Each batch contains up to 200 sellers, and the marketplace can track which sellers have been paid and which have not in real time.

Periodic commission distributions

An affiliate network distributes quarterly commissions to 1,200 publishers across Europe and Asia Pacific. The network uses Mass Payout to process commissions in batches of 200 per country, scheduling the batches to execute on the same day. Publishers receive their commissions on time, and the network's finance team reconciles all payments through a single statement download.
