E-commerce Price Stability

Introduction

Falcon FX MCP Lock-Price can be leveraged by cross-border e-commerce platforms that need to display product prices in local currencies and guarantee that refund amounts equal the original purchase price regardless of exchange rate movements. The use case described in this section is targeted towards e-commerce platform treasury and payments teams that manage multi-currency settlement at scale, where customers may request refunds weeks after purchase.
For example, a cross-border e-commerce platform displaying prices in 50+ local currencies can increase customer trust and reduce dispute rates by guaranteeing that the refund amount in the customer's local currency always matches the original purchase amount, regardless of how exchange rates have moved in the interim.

Example

Let's say you operate a cross-border e-commerce platform where customers purchase goods priced in their local currency (e.g., EUR, GBP, THB). Customers may request refunds weeks or even months after their original purchase. Without MCP Lock-Price, the refund amount would be calculated at the market rate at the time of refund, which may differ significantly from the rate at the time of purchase — leading to customer dissatisfaction and disputes.
The high-level user journey looks like the following:
  1. A customer in the Eurozone purchases a product priced at EUR 100. The platform calls
    aifx/mcp/quotes/create
to lock the EUR/USD rate at the time of checkout.
  1. The platform confirms the lock-price order via
    aifx/mcp/orders/confirm
    within the quote validity window.
  1. The order status transitions to
    LOCKED
    , confirmed via the
    aifx.mcp.order.LOCKED
    webhook.
  1. Three weeks later, the customer requests a refund. The platform calls
    aifx/mcp/refunds/create
    with the original order ID.
  1. The refund is processed at the original locked rate, and the customer receives exactly EUR 100 back — the same amount they originally paid.

Building it with WorldFirst

Locking the rate at checkout
The first step is calling
aifx/mcp/quotes/create
with the transaction currency pair and expected settlement date to get a locked rate. The quote has a time-bound validity window — confirm the order within the window or the rate expires and must be re-fetched.
Confirming the lock-price order
Call
aifx/mcp/orders/confirm
within the quote validity window to place the lock-price order. The system returns the order status and locked rate details.
Monitoring order status
Subscribe to
aifx.mcp.order.LOCKED
webhook to confirm the rate is locked. This ensures your system is notified in real time when the lock is successfully applied.
Processing original-rate refunds
When a customer requests a refund, call
aifx/mcp/refunds/create
with the original
order_id
. The system applies the same locked rate to the refund amount, ensuring the customer receives the exact original local-currency amount. Subscribe to
aifx.mcp.refund.SUCCESS
webhook to track refund completion.
Key integration notes:
  • Lock-price quote has a validity window. Call
    aifx/mcp/quotes/create
to get a locked rate, then confirm within the window.
  • Original-rate refund must reference the original order ID. Pass the original
    order_id
    when initiating a refund.
  • DirectDebit settlement is asynchronous. For long-cycle + DirectDebit mode, subscribe to
    aifx.mcp.settlement.*
    webhooks to track completion.
